Update: The weekly giveaways are going to be on a bit of a hiatus while we move some of the site’s primary assets (IE, the staff), but as a bit of an upside we’ll leave this one open until the next one is posted. Stay tuned!
Here’s the weekly giveaway!
Here’s the next trade donated by TRO member Chris D.
It’s Superman: Redemption!
Featuring work by Kurt Busiek, Fabian Nicieza, and Walt Simonson (among others), the book celebrates Superman’s 666th issue by taking a pull in the other direction – well, just look at the cover, will you?
With Superman as an easy parallel for a religious figure, it only makes sense that you’d want to hand something like this to a writer known for subtle and interesting work examining the nature of super-heroics.
Kurt Busiek, who’s proved himself on many titles like Astro City and Thunderbolts, is a great choice. There are a few stories that work together here and legend Simonson does the art on issue 666.
It’s a used and bent copy (see comments) but that shouldn’t impact your reading enjoyment.
A great prize, thanks Chris!
The Rundown:
(1) Prize: One copy of Superman: Redemption
(1) Random Comment Winner: One logged in commenter will be randomly selected from the replies to this post.
Eligibility: You must be registered and logged in when you comment to be eligible. You must also be in the continental USA for shipping purposes. If you are overseas and want to pay for the shipping yourself, feel free to enter, but keep in mind that it will probably be more expensive than just buying the book.
Good luck everyone!

You must not be combing through the superman reading order enough ;)
It comes right after Camelot Falls 2 and before 3-2-1 Action and contains Superman 659, 666; Action 848-849.

By the way, you should check your email. I just sent you one a few minutes before you commented here!

Just looking at the cover, this looks like a fun one.

FYI to all the posters here:
This was actually an extra copy sent to me from a seller on Amazon because it wasn’t packaged properly and USPS decided to bend the spine like they were a Marvel fanboy ;)
Heads up just incase someone will be sad to have a new “used looking” copy.
[Reply]
I don’t think anyone will mind. Thanks for the heads up :D
[Reply]
I’m very interested in this, thanks for posting!

Love Busiek’s Astro City, but never read any of his Superman. Looks intriguing.
[Reply]
i would love this!

ayoooo

Kurt Busiek is my favorite writer. Astro City, Marvels, so many classics. I have read Up, Up, and Away and Camelot Falls. I would love to add this to my collection.
[Reply]
HA! I love your user name. Made me smile while at work and actually dealing with the subject :)
[Reply]
Hot Damn! Just read this tonight and whoever wins will be one happy TRO member :)
Nice collection of three stories. The first two are great and are about faith, Kal’s and mankind’s varied beliefs.
The last one, that is issue #666, is about him fighting a demon of hell. Really nasty and rough art that prefectly complements the story. It’s a single issue story and very reminicscent of an elseworlds tale.
I hope whoever wins will let us know their thoughts on the book!

I’m a big fan of Busiek’s astro city. The only superman stuff of his I’ve read was secret identity (which I loved!)
[Reply]
I’ve been craving a good superman story ever since Superman: The Coming of Atlas let me down
[Reply]
Whoops, forgot to enter this contest until now. Seeing as I do in fact like free things, though, I figured I should stop by and leave a comment.
[Reply]
Coincidentally enough, Busiek’s Camelot Falls trades are the only straight Superman title stories I own. They were pretty good too.
[Reply]
Kurt Busiek is my current favorite writer – this is the first giveaway I’m really excited about!
[Reply]
Oh man, I am a Superman Fanatic. This would be so cool!
[Reply]
Yay superman. with his superness and his manliness
[Reply]
Hey buddy… Do we have a winner yet? Let’s post the next one soon. I’m ready :-)
[Reply]
hey sorry. I wanted to have the marvel list be the big news on the front page a little longer (until I’ve had a chance to send out some emails) and I’d still like to do that.
[Reply]
Cool, makes sense to me. Is it still open?
[Reply]
Ah, Superman: Redemption. From what I understand, the ending is a real corker. I’d love to get my hands on it.
[Reply]
Superman redemption? I dont think i read this story arc? Hmm sehr interresant.
[Reply]
AWESOME!!!!

Looks Great!

Is this still a thing? I don’t know. I “won” the batman animated TPB and never recieved that and not this one is kinda hanging here for 2 months. weird
[Reply]
Your Batman book will still be on its way, I promise. I’m still backed up on sending stuff out (my plans changed a bit as I was Unemployed, then my 5 year engagement ended and there was a lot of moving and whatnot.) I didn’t want to get more behind so I just left this one open for now.
I just got a new job and finally settled in with my new room and stuff, so I really hope to catch up soon. I’m terribly sorry for the delays on sending stuff out.
[Reply]
Dude, Im sorry to hear about that.
Real life trumps internet stuff, always remember that.
I hope the new job works out well for you and sorry about the relationship woes. there are too many bad stars out there that overshadow the good ones
[Reply]
yeah, it was kind of a long breakup and living together really complicated things. But I’m feeling pretty good about all the things I’ve got planned now (and Marc coming on board with more backend power should help keep everything moving forward). It’s gonna be a lot of effort, but I’ve got big plans. Speaking of which, off to work!
[Reply]
good luck and god speed. If you need more help I would be willing to lend a hand
[Reply]
Thanks, it’s much appreciated. I think from this point onward there will always be a few contribution projects open (to anyone who’d like to help). You can find them in the forum, but there’s also a quick link in the top menu under “How To Use This Website”

i haven’t checked TRO in awhile but a superman trade would be a great way to welcome me back…
[Reply]
I’m just getting into the Kurt Busiek Superman run and this would be a great help!
I love Superman and I want to read as many good stories about him as I can.
[Reply]
I thumbed through this trade in the store just the other day – looks like good stuff.
[Reply]
Would really love to have this trade. I’m trying to rebuild my Superman trade collection and this would help fill in some space. Thanks. I LOVE SUPERMAN!
[Reply]
Was not aware of this story. Looks awesome!
[Reply]
Looks sick. I like the “different” stories. I may just have to pick this up at some point. I’ve been enjoying Fabian on Red Robin as of late.
[Reply]
This looks awesome and will help me stay current in the DCU. I just finished Blackest Night thanks to my local library!
[Reply]
Whoa! Would love to have this title to add to my collection. New member. Love the site.

Is this still open? If so, I am in!

Kurt Busiek is an Amazing writer, and i love the reversal they did, having a happy, heavenly filter thrown on superman for 666.
