    Hey Ian,

I haven’t read this in a bit so I may be wrong but why is this here when the book takes place in Victorian London?

Hey, just got home. sorry for the slow response.

Elseworlds titles are placed by release date, with their sequels/related titles, or right before they tie into main continuity (for better reading flow.)

This is because while this book, technically, is in Victorian england, it’s not OUR Victorian England. or the main continuity Victorian England – it’s on another timeline or another world. It might be a Victorian version of MODERN batman. Or as in some other elseworlds, a elseworlds version of a character only introduced in modern continuity might show up.

    So that’s how they’re placed :)

Hey no stress, I don’t expect you to be in front of your computer waiting for comments 24-7 ;)

I understand the idea. But then maybe they shouldn’t be in continuity at all (they are elseworlds after all…).
Maybe make a specific section for them?

it’s actually a common misconception, but this isn’t a continuity list. It contains all the comics with the dc universe characters, in continuity or not (especially because some are in continuity one year and out the next, depending on the whims of editorial.)

It’s where you can go if you want to read all the books and want to know the best way to read them. Animated titles, elseworlds, etc.

They all have their own tagged lists, too, but the main list holds everything. It’s for true obsessives.

    Ahh gotcha.
well speaking of true obsessives, I just spent all afternoon (at work humhum) adding comics to my collection. I’m on page 14 of DC… :)

Nice! I did the same thing when I first got the feature up (goes a little quicker by opening the addition links in a new tab instead of waiting for the window to refresh.)

I’m hoping to eventually be able to hire a developer who can help me make the add to collection links ajax enabled, meaning they would load in page instead of waiting for it to refresh every time you wanted to add a book.

One feature that would help a lot also is that when the page refresh it goes to the level of where you were before, not the top of the page.

Any plans to add cover thumbnails in the collection page? :P

Probably not in the main view, but I bat around the possibility of an alternate cover view. Will have to wait until we can afford the additional strain on the servers, though.

But I’ll be thinking about it more once I’ve got every book with a cover :D

Ian replied on November 18th, 2010 at 5:44 pm:

oh and yeah, the ajax thing would solve the refresh problem – you wouldn’t have to refresh the page at all, so you’d stay right where you are.

The temporary fix is to right click and open each “add” link in a new tab (or middle mouse click if you’re set up like that.)

It still adds the book to your collection, then you just close all the tabs when you’re done. Ghetto, I know, but the site doesn’t bring in enough to hire a developer to make it better – we’re still currently bringing in under our server rates.

    haha yeah first things first.
The ajax would sole this yeah but maybe if it’s cheaper and easier to attempt.

BTW can you check out users collections?

Ian replied on November 18th, 2010 at 6:03 pm:

yeah – I’ll look into it again. I spent a few days on it when I first got the feature working, but maybe there’s other solutions out there now.

And yeah, you can! Just click on that users name (if they’re registered, if they’re not the link doesn’t work and takes you back to the homepage. If you hover over the link and it says author=0 that means they aren’t registered.)

Or you can type in http://www.traderaedingorder.com/profile/USERNAME – you can share this link with anyone, if you want to show someone what you’ve got or a list you’re working on.

    Good to know.

Well I just finished my DC collection if you want to check it. I just need to tweak it when I get home (my memory fails me).

    I have a question.
I just finished my DC and plan to add some Fables, and such to it.
Will they then be mixed in my DC reading list? Because I don’t really care to have Fables in it since it’s a complete different world.

Ian replied on November 18th, 2010 at 8:19 pm:

Right now, they’ll probably just go before or after the dc books.

    Later they’ll be separated out.

Is there an entry for the trade paperback that collects this prestige OGN and its follow-up? I can’t find it.

    Not right now :-/
Poor DC list needs a lot of attention to get it to the same completion level as the marvel list.
