There are a few other errors in the authors tag section too, we'll have to clean that up soon. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks, Jack, I was going through the character tags the other day but hadn't gotten around to the creators yet. I'll try and fix that one later today. And welcome to the forum!

Just a quick idea that I don't know how feasible it will be to introduce, a quick user rating system on books. Similar to Amazons but would have to make it so that only members could rate it. Just an idea for a temp thing until we get reviews for more things up (it might increase your aff. link income).

I like that idea a lot, but I don't know how practical it is on the other end, but I think that would be cool.

Upon further thought maybe it could be made so that contributors rate the books meaning two things:
1. Encourages new people to write reviews or help out on the site
2. Ensure the ratings are "fair" (i.e. only ratings being made are by people who could back up their rating with a review if they were called on their rating).

I would think just being a registered member of the site would be enough — that is, if it's even a feasible thing. It would open up a lot of possibilities, like the ability to generate lists of "top-rated" books for your favorite characters or creators.

any sort of user contributed taxonomy is hard to implement in wordpress. I wouldn't mind having such a thing (or at least being able to sort by our review ratings) but keep in mind that each such addition brings additional server load and a fair amount of time to implement. Seeing as there's only one barely competent developer (me) at this time I'd rather focus on getting all of our content up to snuff first.
IE, we've already got a lot of systems in place for sorting that just aren't useful yet. Like most books need chronological "end date" values in order to show up chronologically in author lists. Or author tags, even!
If we had a developer working on other systems alongside someone putting in the database info, I'd be all for it, but I gotta try and prioritize.
I don't want to discourage the ideas though – keep em flowing! We'll get back to all the good ones when we can, I promise.

Yep, first things first. Hopefully we'll have all that end-date and creator information filled out sooner than later. Once that's done and we're on top of the new solicits when they come out, I'm sure there are a lot of interesting things we'll be able to do.

yeah, once we have all the information we want in here, there are all kinds of cool ways we can manipulate it. If the site ever gets big enough to afford the processing power and bandwidth, we can get all crazy "cover-browser" style and get the next level shit going. The hard part right now is getting all this data in one place and getting it right – no one's ever done that before!

Understandable and your are spot on about getting the current stuff up to scratch first. I just feel sorry for the developer as when they start I imagine they will have a long list of things we want to implement waiting for them.
