So over at Comics Should Be Good (one of my two favorite Blogs, bet you can't guess what the other one is) they got me thinking about this topic. There are some really crappy threads in stories, or runs that are commonly overlooked because everything else is so great, or they just really don't measure up to the rest of the great work. I was wondering what these were for my fellow TROers.
Here are a couple that come to mind for me.
All Star Superman- The stuff with atlas as Samson
New X-men- Planet X, I just wasn't satisfied with how this run was wrapped up.
Ex Machina- Ex Cathedra I love this series and I don't think this really explored too much or developed characters
Any that stick out to you?

Firstly great thread idea, secondly I move that "SPOILERS!!!" should be added to the title by Ian/Marc, thirdly too many to mention:
As I mentioned Mr. Brubaker already today I think it's only fair that I show I'm not all sucky-up to him. For instance the whole Winter Soldier stuff with Captain America is meant to be great yet despite the very good dialogue I though it was almost a waste of my money. The two things I really disliked was that they telegraphed each cliffhanger way before it was due, sometimes up to a few issues (!!!!) beforehand; so much for the keep-em guessing writer.
The other thing is me just being picky – there are 3 terrorist plots afoot, one in the US, one in London and one in Paris. Obviously they call in Captain Britain to give a hand in London and they take care of the state-side one themselves, leaving just Paris. London to Paris is about 30 mins by air, whereas US to Paris is more like 7 hours, but still the US team get to sort it out. If they had given it to the UK team they'd have saved the day and been home for dinner before the yanks got on the scene, but that'd be silly right? Surely there must be French superheroes in Marvel Universe (I don't know as not well-read into it)?
Just to come down off my high horse here's a sillier one: the whole "Land's End, Scotland" from Ultimate X-Men 16.

Here's what we'll do for the spoiler issue: just block out all the text after the title of what book you're going to talk about, to be totally on the safe side. You do this by highlighting the text you want to block out, then clicking the "spoiler" button (right next to emoticons button). So, for example:
New X-Men: I loved Planet X. In fact, it was one of my favorite parts of the whole run. If there was anything I didn't like as much, it was the whole "Kick" subplot. There was nothing wrong with it, per se, but it did bring in Sage and Bishop as guest-stars from X-Treme X-Men, a book I would prefer to believe never existed.

Obviously if it's something more vague (like Simon's comment that the cliffhangers in Captain America were too obvious) then no need for a spoiler tag. But if you're going to discuss specific plot points, use make sure they're covered up. I think this is a good habit to get into not just for this thread, but for the forums in general.

My bad, I totally suck when it comes to announcing spoilers. Soon to be remedied.
My biggest gripe with planet X was that it made everything I liked about Xorn completely void and I just didn't find the explanation that he was magneto realistic. It just made it feel like everything he was involved in not true to character. I realize this is goofy complaining about how this when the original guy is supposed to have a black hole, or was it a star, in the center of his head. I can see your gripe with the kick one too. Fair point. I also am not a major fan of Cassandra nova as a character either but I might be in the minority there.

Also because of the hype I finally read winter soldier and was also disappointed. Is it worth reading more. Not to say it wasn't good just not my cup of tea. If I didn't like that would I not like the rest of the run?

I haven't read any other than the Winter Soldier trade, but I intend to at some point; while it didn't live up to the hype you could still appreciate that the writer was probably forced into some bad writing by the Marvel Editing team.

For a second I thought you guys were talking about The Winter Men, in which case I was really surprised that you didn't like it. But I figured it out.
I've only read the modern Cap that's crossed over with Civil War and other marvel events. I'd like to read it all at some point (I've got a few classic trades and that post-death tribute one) but it's behind Punisher on my list.

No chance of me dissing The Winter Men it is a masterpiece, although reading it shows how bad some books truly are (in comparison).

Still haven't had a chance to find it/read it but I will make it a priority. I read the review and really want to read it now.

I liked the first Winter Soldier arc, but I read it years ago and that's the most recent Captain America I've read (other than issue 25).
