Nice, good luck on the Marvel trades. Let me know which ones they were when it's over, whether you win or not. I'm not exactly in the market to buy anything new (and won't be for a while!), but I am curious as to what's popular on ebay at the moment.

no idea what's popular. These particular ones (as lots) have only showed up in my saved searches once every few months. Actually the first time showing up for one of them. Not rare books, but I guess not many people have a set.

Got the rest of my B&N books today! The Clone Saga trades are great. Seriously, they're such a nostalgia trip for me…I'm so glad I got them, and I'll be buying the rest for sure.

I've been kind of skeptical given the notoriety of the source material, but as soon as I opened up the first trade I knew it was a great purchase. I actually have almost all the issues collected in the first one (and usually I'm not big on re-buying things I already own in a different format), but seeing them put together in this way was just fantastic.
By the way, how did those Marvel auctions ever go for you?

I got the New Mutants for a fair price, but I missed out on the spiderman (5 Brand New Day era hardcovers for 20 ish bucks) cause I was at work.

Yeah it is, but it hasn't been officially solicited though. I don't know what they're waiting for. I have the first trade, but I've only read a few issues from it. It's good stuff, at least at this point. I imagine it might get crappy later on, as the mid- to late '80s is when Claremont's writing really went down the tubes.

they seem to have relatively solid reviews, but I think I'll enjoy it no matter what. The late 80s/early 90s marvel was what I always dug out of 10 cent back issue bins, so that and stuff like Marvel Comics Presents is really nostalgic for me. I always had random issues (don't think I had a single complete arc of anything) so it will be nice to see what it was really all about.

I know what you mean. As trashy as some of those books were (especially Uncanny X-Men in the late '80s) I still love reading them for some reason. And I know I'm going to LOVE the Clone Saga stuff when I go through it again, no matter how stupid it gets.

Same here. Likewise, I'm super excited for those MCP Wolverine and AoA Complete Epic books.

I just got a bunch of allred x-force books on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&rt=nc&nma=true&item=370508766021&si=SfHXQtvfcvJLQsbwSAtE%252FINl4Lk%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3AEOIBSA%3AUS%3A1123
X-Force Vol. 1 & 2
X-Statix Vol. 1, 2 & 3
X-Statix Presents: Dead Girl
50 bucks! I'm amazed… my max bid was 70, but these seem like they're going for like 50 each on amazon. In any case, all I have to do is find a copy of x-statix 4 now and I should be caught up to the upcoming omnibus and saved some money!

And you saved yourself the inconvenience of reading such a ginormous book too. Although I imagine after the Omnibus has sold out they'll repackage it as a series of Ultimate Collection trades.

That would be nice to see. Oh man, I hate how this next paycheck is already basically spoken for, haha. I gotta sell some more stuff on ebay.

As far as purchasing, I just got Flash & GL rings for cheap on eBay, Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut on eBay, and Elliot S! Maggin's 1978 novel Superman: The Last Son On Krypton…off eBay. I love that site.
I would have won a dirt-cheap copy of X-Men: The Dark Phoenix Saga off there too, but another guy found it and put an automatic bid on it, so I quickly got outclassed.

Cool stuff, Tom. The Dark Phoenix comes up a bunch if you save an ebay search for it – should be able to find it for cheap eventually.
I finally got the swamp thing poster I wanted (The zulli with the flowers) from a seller in the UK. Looking forward to that!
