nope, looks like he's refunded me so I'm not gonna get it. I guess I'll keep trying to get New X-Men first. I guess I'd know this if we'd finished our reading order, lol, but is there anything between the two that I'd want to read as well?

Nope, there's really not that much that was published even between them (not even much stuff you wouldn't want to read). Whedon intended for you to be able to go straight from New X-Men to Astonishing X-Men.
I actually did a crapload of work on my reading order today, and finally got to stuff in 2005 or beyond. I already had a pretty good working knowledge of those stories since I bought single issues up until 2008, I just didn't have any of it written down. My reading order will probably go up tomorrow now, unless I get a sudden burst of energy really soon. A friend came over to help me set up my internet connection properly and it took longer than I expected.

Cool beans. Definitely looking forward to checking out those runs.
I've gotten in a lot of books, but haven't started dating and organizing yet. I'm focusing on tracking down edition information, isbn numbers, and other data fields for everything right now, then I'll start dating after that. Not really sure how long everything will take, but considering I expected it to be a year before I was even this far, I'm pretty happy. I expect I'll have marvel going up within a month or so. (very conservative estimate. I may get a second wind and blow through some of this stuff, but I'm not pushing myself too hard right now.)
In the meantime, I'm gonna try to get back on track with dc updates, at least a little each day.

Awesome! Oh and I did indeed get that burst of energy I needed. I hope in my tiredness I haven't made some really bone-headed mistake during the process of getting it finally posted!

looks good to me – but then again, I might not be well versed enough to catch a small mistake. I'm kinda learning along with building this one (good thing I don't mind as much spoiling minor marvel stuff for myself – it irritated me to no end while doing the dc list, haha)

Yeah, I don't think there are any factual errors in what's been posted so far, since I've had that sitting in Blogger waiting to be published for a few days…I was just hoping I hadn't accidentally screwed up some little formatting thing or whatever.
And there are some spoilers that you just can't avoid if you're making a timeline for any comics company. Like for Marvel, there's no way a person making a reading order wouldn't learn that Captain America died, if they didn't know that already.
Anyway, we seem to have gotten totally off topic here, haha. I have purchased nothing of late. Anyone make any epic ebay conquests in the last few days?

No, nothing exciting from ebay, though I'm watching a couple items that should plug some holes (I really want to grab those Tor archives for one).
I've got these books on their way from my guy (the one I got all the showcase books from):
4. Viking Prince, The
5. Losers, The / Kirby
6. DC Comics Classic Library / Justice League of America # 2
7. Creeper, The / Ditko
8. Sandman, The / Simon & Kirby
9. T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents Archives Vol. 2
10. T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents Archives Vol. 3
11. T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents Archives Vol. 4
12. T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents Archives Vol. 6
13. Shazam Archives Vol. 3
14. Shazam Archives Vol. 4
15. Kamandi Archives Vol. 2
That brings me almost up to date with the hardcovers I want. Big gaps being the Spirit Archives 3-26, Plastic Man Archives, and then a few other big wants: Golden Age Sandman, the couple missing Thunder Agents, Kamandi 1, New Teen Titans 1, and Shazam 2.
I've got saved searches for a lot of modern recent releases, like from the last year or so, but I'm in no hurry to get those since I've got so much pre-crisis reading to do.

That's some great stuff!! Let me know what you think of the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents; I'm a big Wally Wood fan, but I've never read any of those. The Kirby stuff sounds great too…just today I finished reading Mark Evanier's Kirby biography, so I'm really in the mood to read some of his stuff right now.

yeah, I'm excited about it (especially the Viking Prince and Creeper hardcovers). It rounded out to about 21 dollars a book, though I'm assuming the prices among the fluctuated. He just kind of throws a price at me for a pile of books, and it's usually low enough that I jump on it.
I won't be reading any thunder agents until I get my hands on a vol. 1 for a reasonable price, haha. I'm definitely intrigued by it, though!

Just a heads-up to everyone. There is a very nice "nick and dent" sale going on a tfaw.com now. There is a lot of stuff that you can get on the cheap. Of course, there will be some damage, but they seem to be advertising the books as having very little damage, things such as folded corners. The most expensive thing from Marvel or DC is Marvel Masterworks Golden Age USA Comics Vol. 1 for $24, which is retailing on Amazon for 40. There are some pretty good deals, with some books being up to 70% off. I believe the sale ends tomorrow, so act fast. Seems like a good opportunity to fill some holes in your collections.

Another heads-up: All of the Scott Pilgrim books are really cheap on Amazon right now, ranging from $5.99 to $6.99. MSRP for those is $11.99 each, so it's half price in some cases!
I also ordered a TPB called "Smuggling Spirits, Book 1" because it was in the Bargain Books section on Amazon for $1.86 and sounded decent enough to give a try for that price. Apparently it's set in the Prohibition era and it's about a bootlegger who fights demons or something (which makes the title a pun). I'll let you guys know if it was worth the (admittedly low) cost once I get a chance to read it.

hah, cool. Let us know if it's any good.
I haven't read Scott Pilgrim either, actually. It seems to have a following, but on first exposure I don't really dig the art style. Maybe just not my thing?

I already own the first two Scott Pilgrim books, so I ordered the ones I didn't have. I read the first one about five or six years ago actually, and I loved it…then I got the second one around the time it came out. After that, I decided to wait until the series was finished to read the rest (I didn't think it would take quite so long), because I didn't think I'd be able to handle the wait between books. And now I don't have to anymore! :)

I finally got all the spirit archives, vol 4-26 in one big lump. Ended up about 24 a book though he threw in a few other ones I wanted for free, like Flash Chronicles Vol. 2 and Legion of Superheroes Showcase vol. 4. Really excited about that.
Along with the three Tor Archives and the Batman Illustrated by Neal Adams books I recently lucked out on, I'm ready to do a little shelf shifting!

I won a few auctions from Tzbastuff last week, and I got the trades yesterday and today. I got all the Superman and Batman "Decades" trades other than Batman in the Seventies, all the Crisis on Multiple Earths trades other than the first one (and including the Team-Ups trades), seven Final Crisis trades, two Infinite Crisis trades, an Animal Man trade, and a Magog trade. It was about 25 trades total!
He also said he'd send me a special package for name-dropping you when I thanked him for everything, which I haven't received yet, so who knows what that might be.

haha, awesome! He mentioned that someone had said they found him through me. Thought it might be you. Glad you got some good stuff – I'd be sad if I was the only one who had an awesome experience shopping with him.

Nah I definitely had a great experience, and I'll be getting stuff from him again I'm sure.
I also got some stuff from Top Shelf's annual sale a few weeks ago, when they had a bunch of stuff for just $3.00 and the super-deluxe Surrogates hardcover for only $10 (instead of $50, I think). The sale might even still be going on now, I'm not sure.
And speaking of sales, TFAW's got another nick-and-dent one going on right now. They have quite a few softcover Masterworks for only $3 each…which I'm really tempted to get, even though I already own them in Omnibus form, haha.

yeah, I'm running into a space problem, honestly – one of the reasons I really gotta stick closer to my just/mainly dc goal. It's already got 4 full length bookshelves just for dc, and it's looking like I'm gonna have to move the companion volumes to their own shelf.
