Sadly I only have the one GBA and no cables so any connectivity games I never got to play, but the DS more than makes up for it with it's wi-fi.

yeah, you really didn't miss anything without the cables. I think the ONLY time i've used cables with a GB was for tetris…the original…in black and green.

Definitely played some fun mario bros via wifi though with the DS…good times!

Yo Simon,
So I listened to the Slash album today and I must say…"Damn good recommendation man!"
Seriously, I'm not much of rock guy, but some of those…ok most of those tracks were pretty damn amazing. Slash kills it on this album. I'm impressed that he didn't have the singers try to match him in his musical genre, but instead played to their strengths and he really showed his diversity on guitar. My only complaint was the last song…ugh. Maybe I'm too old to think it's cool, but that Iggy Pop song…oh man. I felt as though I was reading the scribbled lyrical notes of a 7th grader's notebook. So unoriginal.

I LOVED the Ian Astbury, Myles Kennedy (back from cali), Adam Levine, Lemmy Kilmeister, and Kid Rock songs. Rock and Levine were the only artists I knew out of that group. Ozzy was ozzy of course, Fergie was well… unfortunately…like Fergie, but Slash's part more then made up for it. I didn't know who Lemmy was but I did recognize his voice from one of the Tony Hawk soundtracks. Man that dude's voice is great.

Thank again for the excellent recommendation!

Hey Marc,
Just wanted to let you know that I just listened to Episode 300 of CCL that you recommended. Very interesting stuff. I never really think much about dailies except for the daily Garfield comic strip i get in my e-mail everyday. It's funny how I only think of dailies as humorous strips. I remember being very young and seeing Prince Valiant and going "who reads this? it's like a real story." I really enjoyed Charles discussing what he has to go through. I didn't really car for Chris' lack of active listening. Numerous times Charles would say some pretty impressive stuff about how luck he has been finding this and that and it would be crickets on Chris' end. I even noticed he phrased a couple of statements that would end in a way where it was awkward that Chris didn't touch on what he just said and instead moved on. Maybe he was tired. It was my first one listening to it and definitely will not be my last one. Thanks for the recommendation.

PS…sorry for the triple post here….where you guys at?!? ;)

Yes….I'm glad to see that you're not as post happy as me….last day off so I'm just sitting around.

PS…I wanted to tell you this, but didn't want to create a new forum post, comment, etc….
So i was thinking about the Ultimate Marvels and wondering if I should look into checking some of them out. I'm down with restarts since I'm not much of a Marvels guy and wanted to see if the new stuff interested me. I googled to see if I could find a quick reading list for the Ultimate trades…thinking that since you were in the process of doing Marvels this site was completely void of any stuff…so then I see this

http://forums.comicbookresourc…..038;page=2

and THIS
http://www.tradereadingorder.c…..-universe/

What the heck!?!? Haha…i thought it was hilarious that a search sent me back home :)

CBR is where I found you in the first place…and haven't gone back since.

OK, sorry, enough off topic. Just wanted to tell you that quick story.

hah. Although kind of distressing to me cause you didn't notice that list earlier. Makes me feel that I haven't done a good job of making the navigation very clear.

well like I said I'm not at all a Marvels guy. Reading Civil War didn't help either….ugh.
So i wasn't really looking for it on the site before and I thought that everything marvel related was still in the process and not even published.

Yeah, so I just looked, easy peasy. Just clicked "Comic Reading Orders" and staring me right in the face saying "you idiot! I'm right HERE!" were both lists of Marvel trades. :)

yeah, still under construction, but the ultimate one is definitely useful already.

I've held off on uploading the partial list for 616 just because I'd have to re-do so much work if I did and it's actually kind of hard to delete books. But it's on the horizon, I believe it!

I think Chris is conscious of some of his weaknesses as an interviewer, which is probably why he's changing the podcast from weekly to every other week, so he can put more time and effort into putting together great interviews. Overall, though, I think he's pretty good at what he does.

And I'm glad you found the interview interesting. I've gotten into newspaper comics a lot more over the last year or so. The original Prince Valiant comics from the 1930s-40s are currently being collected in a set of beautiful hardcovers by Fantagraphics. That's just one of a load of strips (e.g. Dick Tracy, Blondie, and Family Circus) that were truly wonderful in their time, but are now being handled by completely different people and in many cases just plain suck in their current state. Dick Tracy in particular was amazing in the 1930s. Chester Gould was a true master of his craft.

I really liked when he posted some videos showing some of his recent aquisitions and chatting about them a bit. I kind of wish he'd do more video, I find it easier to find the time for somehow.

I know Comic Vine does videos, but I don't really like their kind of commercial G4 vibe. Chris just seems so down to earth, honest, and straightforward about his passion.

CCL 291 — Interview with Jim Trombetta, "The Horror! The Horror!" : http://www.collectedcomicslibr…..he-horror/

CCL 287 — Interview with Dean Mullaney, Library of American Comics: http://www.collectedcomicslibr…..omics-idw/

CCK 274 — Interview with Dan Nadel, "Art In Time" : http://www.collectedcomicslibr…..me-abrams/

The ones with Mullaney and Nadel in particular are pure excellence. I would also honestly recommend ANY episode of the Twomorrows Tune-In Podcast: http://twomorrows.com/blog/cat…..y/tune-in/  You can listen to interviews with people who've written books about characters you already know and love, or about ones you're not so familiar with…either way, the episodes are extremely interesting and informative. (Or you could just be like me and listen to all of them!)

Glad you liked the Slash album Chris, I did think it was a cracker especially as he matched the singers to their style not his. There are some pretty cool youtube videos out there of his live tour for the album with Myles Kennedy; he's just one of those singers that has a good enough vocal range to pull off all the songs.

haha…where's your dedication Simon?  Come on!

Thanks a bunch Marc for the suggestions.  Next time I need to grind away on a game I'll keep the entirety of the Twomorrows in mind.  Until then I'll listen to them like a normal person ;-)

Cool. I remember some of my favorite Twomorrows eps being the ones that featured "Marvel Comics in the 1960s," "Age of TV Heroes," and "Modern Masters: Mike Ploog". Can't remember which episode numbers they were though.

yeah as long as they're not super up to date where i'll be confused or anything because I'm so behind then I'll likely listen to a ton of them.  I'll get those ones you recommended right now though so I won't loose this post.  Thanks again!

Oh, and I've forgotten about my favorite Twomorrows episode of all! There's a non-numbered "special" episode where the host (not Chris, someone else) interviews Gary Owen, whose voice you're sure to recognize from literally hundreds of different cartoon shows and commercials. He was the original voice of Space Ghost as well. He's just full of stories in that interview, all of which I found fascinating.
