I see no reason why not. Actually, we should really go to this Comics Arts Conference stuff. Too bad it's west coast!
I'm kind of considering a move though. I mean, not for the cons, but that would be a perk. Either west coast or back up to NYC. North for family, west for the weather.

Do you think I should submit Crisis for Infinite Nerds (in need of some revision) for the CAC conference?

I don't really have time to read up on CAC right now since I need to get to bed (I will tomorrow), but sure, why not give it a shot? Worst they can do is not accept it, which is the same outcome as if you didn't send it in the first place! Could be a nice opportunity to motivate yourself into perfecting your writing too. As long as you end up with an article you're really happy with, even if CAC doesn't want it, someone else might.

Oh, and I've never been to either NYC or the west coast, so I'm afraid it wouldn't help much in your decision-making process if I were to weigh in!

yeah, I'm tweaking it a little as we speak. There's some factual weirdness in there that I need to correct or make more clear. I sent them an email asking if they thought it was a good presentation topic. :D
I've lectured or reviewed portfolios for the Society of Photographic Education and SCAD before, never done comic related academic stuff though. Would be great!

Clocking in for 7:30. I've been combing through amazon and new solicitation stuff for a while tonight already, but just starting to do placements again now.

I couldn't have been happier with today's solicitations from Marvel. I literally jumped out of my seat and danced around the room when I saw the Spider-Man by Michelinie & McFarlane Omnibus. I'm ordering as soon as it's available for preorder.

If I have any money at all, I might have to bite on that one myself. We'll see. Luckily I have a couple months to save up.

That book will be a godsend to me because it covers one of the biggest gaps in my collection of Amazing Spider-Man singles (which is the only series I actually collect and would like to have a complete run of someday). The McFarlane issues have always been pretty expensive ($10-20 each) compared to stuff published immediately before and after them (often $3-5 each).

Those late 80s issues were also ones I always wanted as a kid, since I'd see the odd ones in back issue bins for way more than I'd actually pay for em (I was consigned to the 10 cent bins.)

I mapped it out, and it would only take three more Omnibuses after the Michelinie/McFarlane one to cover all of Amazing Spider-Man up to the beginning of the Clone Saga.
I talked about it here: http://marvelmasterworksfansite.yuku.com/topic/16191/master/1/?page=8

It's hard to figure a really solid rate for how marvel does the omnibus editions. Do you think they'll actually release something like that regularly? It would be a relatively easy way to fill that gap, which is much needed.

Well, on target for the end of the month anyway. But I'm hoping I can get it done sooner, since I'm going to need to devote some time to selling a bunch of my stuff on ebay to make March rent. We'll see – hopefully I'll be able to put a LOT of hours in the next couple days.

You're amazing! Definitely utilizing the new free time you have now huh? Don't forget to post a link to your ebay auctions on the forums somewhere when you do list them.

Thanks chris. I'll try to keep it up. I bet my chair is getting rather smelly after all these long data entry sessions.
Clocking in at 4pm. By the time I get settled and finish going through my email.

clocking out for a bath. 11:30

Total Hours: 53.5 hours

Session Completion Rate: 17.7 books per hour
Running Rate: 41.14 books per hour
On target? Yes
As long as the running rate doesn't drop below 30, I'd say I'm still on target, but this batch has been a lot harder. A lot of "best of" style trades that require tracking down weird titles, plus some UK books that are especially hard to find info on. I've had to place a couple odd creator centric collections by the book release date, since I can't figure out the contents at all (hopefully someone will own them and we can fix it once the list is up.)
I'll be back in a bit!

The Marvel Masters books by Panini. None of the other ones have given me trouble, but I'm not not even sure if a couple of those panini books even ever came out.

Ah, okay. I thought maybe you meant the Marvel Visionaries hardcovers or something. If that had been the case, I could have pulled them off my shelf and helped you out. :)
