Just did some more digging into this, and there is only one edition of the DD by Frank Miller Companion. The two listed on Amazon are the same book, except that one has the variant cover.

I know they have different page counts, but the 480 page count is wrong. I bought my copy the day it came out, and it has over 600 pages, so there was no previous edition with less content.

ok, so which isbn is the main one? Would it be solved just be deleting this one?

There are probably two ISBNs, one for the standard cover and one for the variant. Mine is the standard cover (that is, it uses Daredevil #227 for its cover) and the ISBN from the back of the book is 978-0785123507. That’s what you have listed here, so don’t delete this entry, just change the page count to 608.

The variant has the cover currently attached to the “new” version of the Omnibus listed after this one. In fact, it has a completely different and unique trade dress, which matches the variant edition of the Daredevil by Frank Miller & Klaus Janson Omnibus.

What might work is adding a second Amazon link to this entry, linking to the variant hardcover. Actually, it might not be a bad idea to do that for all the Omnibuses with variants, as people often tend to prefer one cover to the other when ordering.

there’s nothing in place to do that right now, but it might be something to do when actually finalizing each entry. Honestly though, keeping track of all the variants is really hard for me. And a lot of the softcovers have different cover editions as well. for now I’ll just try to put a note about it under the cover (in the “post content”) but I don’t want to create a bunch of variant hardcover custom fields when they won’t be used for most books :-/

ok, I put a note in this one and deleted the other one.

If you comment on other ones that I should make note of and link a variant, I will, and I’ll think about creating a custom field to export additional international links.

Well I remember which Omnibuses have variants, and in most cases I remember what all the different covers look like, so I should definitely be able to help you out with all those.

Generally, all of the non-“modern” ones have a variant. Typically, one cover is the actual cover a book found in the collection, while the other is brand-new art commissioned specifically for the Omnibus. Oftentimes, the new art is a reinterpretation of the classic cover used on the other version of the book (although sometimes not).

Rather than commenting on each individual book (which would take a while), I’ll just list the ones that I know to have variants:

Golden Age Marvel Comics Vol. 1
    Amazing Fantasy
    Fantastic Four Vol. 1
    Mighty Thor Vol. 1
    Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 1
Iron Man Vol. 1 (this one actually has TWO variants)
    X-Men Vol. 1
    Fantastic Four Vol. 2
    Incredible Hulk Vol. 1
    Captain America Vol. 1
    Iron Man Vol. 2
    Silver Surfer Vol. 1
    Tomb of Dracula Vol. 1
    Tomb of Dracula Vol. 2
    Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1
    Howard the Duck
    Tomb of Dracula Vol. 3
    Daredevil by Miller & Janson
    Secret Wars
    Captain Britain
    Secret Wars II
    Acts of Vengeance
    Spider-Man by Michelinie & McFarlane
    Elektra
    Wolverine Vol. 1
    Daredevil Omnibus Companion

I need to check on a few others, but those all have variants for sure.

lets move this to a thread on the forum so I can check back and we can update it as necessary. Perhaps we should also think about masterworks variants.
