While I was biking home from work today I started formulating a way to include a character (or creator, etc) bio with picture at the top of the page, in their header.
I could probably use the tag slug itself to call up a jpg with the same name. The trick would be doing it conditionally so it only makes the formatting room for the bio if there is a description (otherwise it would be too much unused space for those minor character that only get a little text header… at least until I give everyone a bio or something.. which would be a long way off.)
I’ll keep thinking about it.
Decided to take a break from big crossovers after finishing all the way to Infinite Crisis Aftermath. Went back and tweaked and tagged starting at the top again (I’ve gotten a little better at it) and now all the books down through Batman: Year Two are tagged (you should notice a lot more Alfred Pennyworth books listed in the tags now, haha).
Then I spent some time making it so a small header appears if you are looking at a book list for a certain Character, Creator, List, or Series. For example, Denny O’Neil or the Silver Age. Figured it would make browsing by tags a little more user friendly.
Going through the “crisis” books and adding full info and tagging characters and creators. Oh my god, I type fast but there’s got to be a better way to do this, haha. Check out the Crisis on Infinite Earths post to see what I mean.
I figure I’ll be done with the general Crisis listing by some point tomorrow. Then I want to start adding important tie-ins to their respective reading lists (Zero Hour crossovers, for example)
You can now use the drop down menus to view lists by Character, Series, or Creator! Tag clouds (lists, really) are still below. The dropdown menus are more comprehensive, showing all items, even with just one tag.
Added and reorganized a lot of “Series” tags. Took things like “crisis” and “elseworlds” out of the character tags and put them into series.
Added “Previous Book” and “Next Book” links to the theme on individual book pages.
