Up Down

I’ve added over 40 covers and tagged Swamp Thing in every book he appears in.

The Swamp Thing Reading Order is complete, with header and everything! I’m pretty happy cause he’s my absolute favorite character in comics.

Every book on this list is fully tagged with all publication information, even including a few showcase volumes and some massive crossover books – which were a pain in the butt, let me tell you. This took two days, which was much longer than the last database updates, but hey – at least I won’t have to tag them all over for any other character’s list.

I also created database entries for the five hardcover Saga of the Swamp Thing collections:

Saga of the Swamp Thing: Book 1

Saga of the Swamp Thing: Book 2

Saga of the Swamp Thing: Book 3

Saga of the Swamp Thing: Book 4 (upcoming release)

Saga of the Swamp Thing: Book 5 (upcoming release)

I’m not going to link every book that I completed the entry but here are the major crossover volumes that are now appearing on a lot of other character lists as well:

Showcase Presents: The Brave And The Bold: Batman Team-ups Vol. 3

Showcase Presents: DC Comics Presents: Superman Team-Ups

The Greatest Team-Up Stories Ever Told

Absolute Crisis On Infinite Earths

Swamp Thing: A Murder of Crows

DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore

Millennium

Sandman: The Kindly Ones

Underworld Unleashed

Kingdom Come

Justice League of America: The Nail

Infinite Crisis

With all these big books complete, it’s actually the biggest DC Universe update in a long time. Even got four hellblazer books completed on there – that’s gonna be another vertigo u doozy.

Now to get tonight’s review in before 12, if humanly possible!

Wow, that’s a heck of a update, especially with all of those character appearances in all of the Crisis books and crossovers. Awesome!!

lol, tell me about it. I thought I’d get it done in a couple hours and get this review in early. As it is, I’m probably gonna cheat and post date it to 11:59 pm ;)

Oh my, how could you ever think to do something like that, Ian? I certainly never have! Nope, never have, and never will! No, sirree… *whistles awkwardly and looks around*

    Hahaha…

Anyway, I was just going through some of the character lists on these updated books, and if you need any help getting that done for the Marvel books when you post them just let me know. I’d offer to help with DC too, but honestly, I feel like Comic Book DB or some such place would be a much better resource for that than me, despite their occasional inaccuracies. I get DC characters mixed up more than anybody’s business!

haha, I know what you mean.

I’m actually hoping to have most of that done for the marvel books before they even go up (it’s a LOT easier doing it without having to wait for pages to load and reload while making changes.) It’s part of what’s taking the whole thing so long. They’ll have at least some characters and creators tagged on every book, though I’m not sure if EVERYTHING will be complete.

I’ll probably still have to go down the entire timeline for both universes and check things off.

But even if it takes a couple years, the database is still pretty useful without being totally complete, so I’m not too worried about it.

    Always more to do, haha.

I think the most useful thing is having reviews to post, which frees me up to do other things. So if you ever want to crosspost one here (and we can maybe make some more scans for it or add the little continuity stuff) just let me know.

It’s no problem, we’ll do our best to communicate :D Where are you from?

If you’re asking if the books are on the Recommended reading order, yes, they all should be. Each of the smaller lists (like the Swamp Thing one or Books of Magic) are all generated from that one huge RRO list – so if a small list has been completed, everything is also in the correct place on the big one.

Sometimes we have to do a little tweaking to make sure everything works out alright, but for the most part that master lists allows us to make a lot of small lists without individually programming each one.

Do you have any recommendations for titles from your area that may have made their way over here?

I know there is a lot of internationally produced stuff that I’m totally ignorant of, and I’d love to remedy that.

I am though honestly I don’t use it much. It gets an automatic feed of my updates here.

Probably the quickest way to communicate with me is through this website, haha, I’m pretty obsessive about it.

Are there any differences between The Curse and Book 3 besides release dates and the cover binding? Paper/color quality?

    [Reply]

Ian replied on October 14th, 2012 at 4:02 pm:

I don’t think anything major, but it has been some time since I saw the paperback. The paper WAS a bit nicer, I think, in the hardcover, but my paperback copy was pretty old/beat up so it’s hard to tell how a nice condition one would compare.
