Here’s a snipped from a great post over at The Real Batman Chronology Project:

Bruce Wayne.  According to my chronology he is (as of February 2011) 48 years-old.  Does this seem too old?  Too young?  Maybe you’re thinking, “Bruce looks (is drawn to look) a hell of a lot younger than 48”.  Well, that argument can be thrown right out the window due to several factors.  Bruce has been re-generated by a Lazarus Pit (Birth of the Demon), healed by the Holy Grail (The Chalice), psychically healed by metahuman power (Knightquest), killed and resurrected magically (JLA: Obsidian Age), mended in an Apokoliptian healing-chamber (Superman/Batman: Torment), and nourished by the Fountain of Life at Nanda Parbat (Ressurection of Ra’s Al Ghul).  There’s a good chance Bruce will look young, fit, and healthy well past his prime.

Just thought I’d share it with you guys! I don’t get too heavy into continuity here, since we’re concerned with so many things that are OUT of continuity, but it’s sometimes fun to have a nod to it like this.

Read on at TRBCP to find out how the author got “48” and more information about Bat Family ages.

Also, it looks like the Batman Family of books is expanding even more with Batman Inc.

IGN Has a great interview up with Morrison that relates to this news.

You guys know I don’t like to get too heavy into possible spoiler details, since so many of us are behind the monthlies while waiting for trades, but basically it just looks like we’re not “losing” any Batmen, if you know what I mean.

Other awesome news? Commissioner Gordon is getting his own backup feature in Detective Comics. I think he should get his own ongoing. Love that bastard.

Say what you will about the orchestration of Infinite Crisis and One Year Later, these mega-events set the pace in the mid-2000s for DC Comics.

They were both quite controversial in their own right but there’s one thing it seems everyone can agree on about this particular era:

52 was beyond awesome.

Today’s Link:

If you don’t know this yet first-hand, don’t worry.

All-around geek site UnderGroundOnline (UGO) has teamed up with DC Comics to collect 52 Issues #1-5 completely free.

Although this story is by now as well known to veteran comic collectors as the destruction of Krypton, 52 was a weekly series about the year-long gap between the aforementioned Infinite Crisis and One Year Later, with each week depicted in real time (hence the name, you see).

Clark, Bruce, and Diana are all on temporary leave during this interim, and we find out how the era of superheroes could function in A World Without A Superman (or a Batman, or a Wonder Woman). Obscure heroes take the center stage, beloved characters die, and one heck of a story is told in the process.

And now, you can get a look at the first five weeks of what is sure to be remembered as the greatest comic event of the 00’s for free!

UGO also features day-by-day recaps of the first 19 weeks and bios on the most important characters to the series.

Just don’t blame yours truly if this makes you want to go out and buy all four trade paperbacks collecting the series.

That’s just the website doing its job.

The Hellboy Universe list is now online!

I’ve given it a description, header image, custom post type, and it’s also got a custom character taxonomy (though none of the characters have been tagged yet.)

All the relevant books from the previous blog post have been added, along with a couple others that weren’t on there – making 53 new books added to the database.

Currently, the sorting is roughly chronological – Crossover volumes have been placed by the release of the issue that contains Hellboy characters, and some other books have been placed by official reading order suggestion (Volume 10 of Hellboy following Volume 9, for example, even though the contents were originally published before.)

Take a look at it and let me know if you have any suggestions! I haven’t read any Hellboy yet, unfortunately, but I’m going to pick up those sweet Library Editions soon.

Really looking forward to it!

Well, freebie fans, we’ve had stuff for the 70s set, stuff for the universe neophytes… now this one’s for the kids.

Today’s Link:

http://dcbeyond.kidswb.com/

If you’re in Kids WB’s target demographic and love superheroes, DC Beyond is a paradise. Boasting no less than 41 unique flash games, as well as exclusive icons and wallpaper, one could easily spend hours virtually donning the spandex suits of Batman, Wonder Woman, Plastic Man, the Teen Titans, and many more… but the real cornerstone of DC Beyond is the Batman cartoons.

For absolutely no charge and very limited commercial interruption, DC Beyond currently offers the entirety of Season 3 of The Batman for your perusal, as well as the first six episodes of Season 1.

The Batman takes what I can only describe as a “lighter and edgier” approach to Batman’s until-now un-depicted early years as the Dark Knight, featuring radical (and sometimes controversial) reinterpretations of his most classic villains.

What, not satisfied? Because here comes the whopper: DC Beyond also offers the complete first seasons for both Batman Beyond and Batman: The Animated Series (!!!). If you’ve never seen them before, or even if you have, no matter how old you are, you will NOT want to miss this.

Well, that’s what DC Beyond has to offer us for now but Kids WB has more to spare. We’ll save that for another time, though.

Until then, send my regards to Harley Quinn and Terry McGinnis!

I added some more books in during tonight’s database update.

The following are currently waiting for placement on page 3 of Unplaced Books:

Captain Atom: Armageddon

T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents Archives Vol. 1

T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents Archives Vol. 2

T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents Archives Vol. 3

T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents Archives Vol. 4

T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents Archives Vol. 5

T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents Archives Vol. 6

The T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents Companion

The Green Lantern Omnibus Vol. 1

We’ll have to wait for the solicitation to figure out exactly what’s included in that Green Lantern Omnibus, but the others should be easy enough to place as soon as I get to them.

I’m hoping to place a whole mess of books tomorrow.
