The magical equivalent of the History of the DC Universe, Gaiman, along with four fine artists, could have let this be a rather humdrum tour, with plenty of beautiful sights and amusing references, but everything speeds along, falling apart and coming together with a vibrating snap.

The third Tor hardcover sees our wandering caveman into the Bronze and Modern Ages of comics. While the plotting and dialogue gets more complex, aspects of this book are decidedly backwards. Kubert seems to have some serious issues with women. [Some images not safe for work.]
