Two quick updates from recent solicitations. Pretty excited about both of these!
First of all, they are collecting the Hellboy / Batman/ Starman crossover! (Ghost is also in this volume, but did you hear me? I SAID BATMAN STARMAN HELLBOY!!!!!)
It’s called Hellboy: Masks and Monsters, weighs in at 136 pages, and it’s coming out on October 20th.
Super excited. The book is on the unplaced books list for now (and will be included in the DC reading order with the rest of the crossovers) but of course I’m going to get a Hellboy Universe list going at some point. When I need a small break from DC perhaps. In any case, super psyched to read this. Love the stuff.
Secondly, we’ve got a cover and release date for the next Buffyverse volume!
Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season Eight Volume 7: Twilight will be coming out on October 6th. It contains issues 31-35 and the Willow one-shot.
This is the one non-DCU series (ok, two if you count Angel and Buffy as separate) that I’ve been reading the second it releases in trades, so you know I’m gonna get a hold of this.
Neither of these books have Amazon or CBDB listings yet, but I’ll get them in there when they do (along with the rest of the info!)
You know, sometimes I start slipping into thinking of this stuff as work and then I take a peek at some solicitation listings and get all giddy again. I was geeking out over some upcoming Star Wars omnibus releases but I’m not even near starting the Star Wars section on this site. I love those Dark Horse omnibus style books though – packed with good stuff!

Love the cover of that Buffy TPB, and the inclusion of Angel in the storyline, by the looks of things. I actually gave up reading the Angel series after 5 TPBs – there was a reason, but I forget why!

Are you talking the early Dark Horse trades or after the fall? I enjoyed them both, though After The Fall was vastly superior. I was kind of glad I only paid a few bucks for the early ones, though they weren’t horrible.

After the Fall. I did enjoy it, though I thought it was a bit self-indulgent at times. I’ve enjoyed the new Buffy much more – seems to takes itself a little less seriously and is a more fun read.

Yeah, they’re pretty different. I generally prefer less serious, myself, when it comes to comics.
As far as I know, Angel ATF 1-5 (not including the spike one) are the only “canon” ones anyway. I heard aftermath wasn’t “really” and the more recent stuff is still kind of up in the air.

I don’t know if you noticed, but I’m taking the opportunity to mess with the formatting on threaded comments a bit – hope it’s not too confusing if things jump around a little!
So far all I’ve decided on is removing the one pixel border, though.
